Uniform Crime Reporting

Uniform crime reporting (UCR) was previously the system used to provide standardized reports on crime statistics to categorize and compare data throughout the state and across the nation. Recently, agencies have begun the transition to a National incident based reporting system. During 2022, our department successfully transitioned from the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) summary system to the new Florida Incident-based Reporting system (FIBRS), that will eventually connect with the National Incident-based Reporting system (NIBRS). Many Florida agencies are still experiencing the short-term impacts of this change. However, it will be a more thorough reporting system in the long-term providing more detailed analysis and future expansion potential.
