Longtime Atlantic Beach resident Greg Franek was honored Aug. 24 by Mayor Lenny Curry and JFRD Chief Keith Powers with the JFRD Award of Merit for Civilian Lifesaving. This was done to recognize Franek's heroism during a June fire on Beach Avenue.
