The City has procured professional services from Edwards Engineering for design and permitting. Edwards is getting geotechnical engineering and surveying subcontractors going on this project. Due to COVID impacts, geotechnical engineering and surveying firms are two or three months out with respect to getting projects done. So, the City effectively is in a waiting game for this work.
Once that work is completed, Edwards will start the design and develop permit drawings for the FDEP Coastal Construction Control Line Permit application. Once we have the permit in hand, they will complete the detailed design for the construction documents.
The project is taking longer than the City anticipated; the current project is that it will probably be near the end of the first quarter next year, at best, until this project is ready to bid.
