Accessibility for People with Disabilities

ACCESSIBLE ACCESS TO THE BEACH, INCLUDING FREE USE OF BEACH WHEELCHAIRS

The Duval County coastline is heaven on earth. You can listen to the melodic music of the waves as they gently crash against the shore, feel the sun's warmth on your skin, and look up at the bright blue skies.

Do you have an idea to make City of Atlantic Beach parks more accessible for everyone? Email info@coab.us or call (904) 247-5804. Meanwhile, check out our Learning and Living with Disabilities Guide and Blog.

Atlantic Beach

Beach WheelchairBeach Wheelchairs are free to use. Please submit an application at least four days in advance of your requested date. We have a limited number of wheelchairs, and they are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

How it Works:

1. Create an account on our permitting site here

2. Wheelchairs can be delivered to the following accesses: 1st St, 2nd St, 3rd St, 4th St., 5th St., 6th St., 7th St., 10th St., 11th St., 12th St., 13th St., 14th St., 15th St., Dewees, and 19th St.

*AHERN ST IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO CONSTRUCTION*

3. You will receive a call the day before or of your reservation with the access code for your wheelchair. This code is so that no one else takes your wheelchair. The wheelchair must stay within Atlantic Beach.

4. If you are using the wheelchair for multiple days, just lock it up where you found it so you can use it the next day.

It is as easy as that. Let us know if you have any questions at recreation@coab.us or (904) 247-5828.
