"The Groov"
Northeast Florida live music staple that brings the ingredients of Chicago blues, Ohio funk, and southern soul for a musical meal that satisfies the soul. Often described as “Smooth”. A Jazz Trio with a desire to provide a musical experience that touches, moves, and inspires.
"Marcus Click"
As a native of Louisville, Kentucky, Marcus grew up with aspirations of becoming a pro football player, but his goals changed after committing over 13 years to the U.S. Navy. During this time, his love for jazz grew by listening, and learning from, the late Grover Washington Jr., David Sanborn, Kirk Whalum, Najee, Dave Koz, and the late saxophonist's Art Porter and George Howard.
He has performed locally in Jacksonville and traveled abroad. He's performed at the 2020 Orange County Mayors Jazz in the Park in Orlando, the 2019 Summer Jazz Series in Jacksonville Beach, and the 2021 Jacksonville Jazz Fest. Last year he released a single, "Sound the Alarm," and his new CD, "Brand New Day," is set to be released this summer.
"Kelly/Scott Jazz Sextet"
Lisa Kelly/JB Scott Jazz Sextet “Classic Swing to New Orleans!” Feat: Todd DelGiudice, Jeff Phillips, Dennis Marks, Clyde Connor
An Atlantic Beach Jazz Festival favorite, the Kelly/Scott Sextet returns for an always crowd-pleasing set of excellent jazz, from classic swing, to Modern, pop, bop, and New Orleans grooves. The sextet features highly regarded Florida-based free-lance jazz artists who’ve performed for countless jazz clubs, concert halls, and festival stages around the U.S. and throughout the world, including Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, China, Japan, and beyond, with many appearances on recordings, radio, TV, in videos, and on streaming media. Three of the group’s artists, Lisa Kelly, JB Scott, and Dennis Marks, are Jacksonville Jazz Festival “Hall of Fame” Inductees, all six artists playing the festival many times over the years. This sextet brings them together to collaboratively groove, improvise, and entertain the audience with top-shelf musicianship, with a repertoire of Great American Songbook favorites to modern jazz, pop tunes, originals, and spirited songs from New Orleans. Influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall, Dianne Reeves, Louis Armstrong, Clifford Brown, Clark Terry, Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum, A.C. Jobim, and other jazz notables. Co-leaders Lisa Kelly & JB Scott present creative arrangements in swing, groovin’ St. Beat, Brazilian Bossa Nova, light funk, Bluesy shuffles, and other interpretive styles with the synergetic rhythm section of Jeff Phillips, Dennis Marks, and Clyde Connor. Saxophonist Todd DelGiudice adds a “modern meets bebop meets cool style,” influenced by Lee Konitz, John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, and pianist Keith Jarrett. Together, they’ll make for some beautifully creative, engaging, feel-good jazz. Autographed CDs available after the show!
