Wastewater Treatment
The City owns and operates two wastewater treatment plants. Wastewater Plant 1 serves the area within the City limits and can treat up to 3 million gallons per day, and Wastewater Plant 2 serves the outside-city area and can treat up to 1.9 million gallons per day.
Physical and biological treatment is used to remove regulated contaminants from the wastewater, which is then disinfected and dechlorinated. The treated effluent is then pumped to the St. Johns River.
If you have questions about wastewater treatment, feel free to call Public Utilities Director, Donna Kaluzniak at (904) 270-2535 or Plants Division Director, Harry McNally at (904) 247-5838.
