Property and Evidence Section
The Property and Evidence Section is in charge of storing all items of evidence, as well as found or abandoned property recovered by the Atlantic Beach Police Department.  The Property and Evidence Section must accurately account for all items stored in our department.  The Property and Evidence custodian must make evidence available to use in courtroom proceedings and to properly return items to their lawful owners.

Any unclaimed, lost, or abandoned property is held for ninety days before being disposed.  Unclaimed evidence is held for ninety days after disposition of the case.  If not claimed, we may auction it online, convert it to city use, or destroy it.  Any items considered contraband are destroyed in accordance with Florida State Statute.
