OCTOBER ART EXHIBIT AND SILENT AUDITION FOR PROMISE TO KATE FOUNDATION
The Promise to Kate Foundation, www.promisetokate.org, will host an art exhibit with silent auction at the Adele Grage Center during the month of October. A Silent Auction Art Show benefitting the Promise to Kate Foundation will be on display at the Adele Grage Community Center, 716 Ocean Blvd, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233, throughout the month of October. The show will include artwork of varying mediums from local and worldwide artists including: Randy Rhodes (Jacksonville, FL), James O’Brien (Jacksonville, FL), Jennifer Graham (Jacksonville, FL), Annelies Dykgraaf (Jacksonville, FL), Ivan Shaping Stars (Spain), Professor Hinson (FSCJ, South Campus), Lucie Sterbova (Czech Republic), Jayda Willis (Kill Devil Hills NC), Liz Bryant (FSCJ, South Campus), and Karen Wheeler (Nevada).
A reception will be held on October 15th from 6 pm – 9 pm to celebrate the artists and foundation.

Beaches Town Center & Adele Grage Cultural Center
Artists (local and northeast Florida) gather around the Beaches Town Center at Atlantic Blvd. and Ocean Blvd/First Street. More than 20 locations feature artists and provide refreshments and music to the public.
Make Adele Grage your first/last stop on the monthly North Beaches Art Walk at 716 Ocean Blvd. and meet the featured artist at a reception, free and open to the public.
TWILIGHT MOVIE IN THE PARK - RUSSELL PARK
Russell Park located at 810 Seminole Road and Plaza.
The City of Atlantic Beach is happy to present a showing of “How to Train Your Dragon II” at Jack Russell Park on October 17. Come out and watch what happens five years after Hiccup and Toothless united the dragons and Vikings of Berk. Now, they spend their time charting the island's unmapped territories. Hiccup and Toothless then find themselves at the center of a battle to protect Berk from a power-hungry warrior named Drago.
Free and open to the Public at Jack Russell Park. There will be free popcorn starting at 8 pm. Movie starts at dusk. **Children 13 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Make sure you bring blankets, chairs, drinks, and bug spray. Seating is first come-first served for this admission-free, alcohol-free event.
DOG TRAINING CLASSES GOING ON NOW!
Northern Professional dog trainer, Ronald White, is offering dog obedience classes for your pet friends every Saturday & Sunday from 8-10 a.m. at Jack Russell Park in the parking lot. Whether you write, sing, play or simply enjoy good music, plan on being with us. Our musical host, Mike Shackelford and his fellow talented performers from our region will transform the Atlantic Beach Theater into a magical space for two hours of original musical creations by neighbors and friends. Seating is first come-first served for this admission-free, alcohol-free event. Bring a friend...or three!
Performers should call host Mike Shackelford at (904)610-7461. Prepare two original songs of 7-8 minutes combined maximum.

FALL FESTIVAL - OCTOBER 10, NOON - 4PM
Donner Park, 2072 George St
Bring your family and invite friends to enjoy a beautiful Fall afternoon at Donner Park on October 10th. There will be a fish fry, hot dogs, chips, and drinks, field day games, arts/crafts booths, community information and exhibit booths, and music. Bring your lawn chairs. This is a free event and open to the public.
FAMILY FUN DAY & CAMPOUT UNDER THE STARS - OCTOBER 17
Mark your calendars! You will not want to miss this popular event scheduled for Saturday, October 17th at Jack Russell Park, 800 Seminole Road, Atlantic Beach, FL.
This year’s Family Fun Day begins at 3:00pm and will feature activities for the whole family to enjoy. The day concludes with a bonfire and the showing of the movie “How to Train Your Dragon 2” at dusk. Free Popcorn will be available starting at 7:30pm.
All afternoon and evening events are free and open to the public.
REGISTRATION FOR CAMPSITE IS REQUIRED.
CAMPOUT UNDER THE STARS REGISTRATION CONTINUES
Registration for Campout Under the Stars (October 17-18) continues. Campers can reserve a 10 x 10 camp site for a $10 fee, September 1-30 and $15 fee starting on October 1 through day of event. A free pancake breakfast is served on Sunday morning for overnight campers. (Rain date: November 7).
