Community Oriented Policing Strategy (COPS)
The Atlantic Beach Police Department employs a Community Oriented Policing Strategy (COPS).  Our police officers work in partnership with community members, community groups, schools, businesses, governmental departments, and other agencies to help bring all available resources to address issues involving the quality of life in the City of Atlantic Beach.  To do this, police must develop a network of personal contacts both inside and outside their departments.

According to the Office of Communit
y Oriented Policing Services, community policing focuses on crime and social disorder through the delivery of police services that includes aspects of traditional law enforcement, as well as prevention, problem-solving, community engagement, and partnerships.  It focuses on proactive policing.  Community policing requires police and citizens to join together as partners.

While all our officers employ the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing, we have one  officer specifically dedicated to COPS.  Officer Tricia Anderson is assigned to this position.  You can contact her at (904) 247-5859 Ext. 5967 or via email.
