Atlantic Beach Launches Same-Day Residential Fence Permitting

The City of Atlantic Beach receives more than 100 residential fence permits annually. To efficiently serve this high-demand permit type, the City is now offering homeowners and contractors a faster and easier way to apply for permits for residential fence permits that are not associated with pools.

It’s this simple: Walk in to City Hall with your fully completed building permit application, fence addendum and survey marked with the proposed fence location, and walk out with your fence permit. Applications and fence addendums are downloadable at www.coab.us/fence. If by chance staff cannot assist you immediately, we will – in most cases – get back to you no later than the next business day.

The City also is speeding up all other fence/wall permits. With new efficiencies in place, these type of requests typically take two to three business days to complete.

“The rollout of online fence permitting will increase efficiency for this common permit type, which will reduce wait times and increase compliance with our zoning ordinances,” said Planning and Community Development Director Amanda Askew. “This is a significant next-step toward better serving our residents and contractors.”
