IQ Fiber’s Free, High Speed, Public Wi-Fi Now Available in Donner, Jordan parks in Atlantic Beach

IQ Fiber Wi-Fi in Parks 4

IQ Fiber Wi-Fi in Parks 2IQ Fiber, Northeast Florida’s only local residential fiber-optic internet service provider, and the City of Atlantic Beach announce the completion and activation of IQ Fiber’s free, high-speed, public Wi-Fi in Donner and Jordan parks and the parks’ community centers. These networks are part of IQ Fiber’s gift to the community, which launched with the activation of a free high-speed network at Jack Russell Park in February.

All visitors to these three parks and community centers (Gail Baker and Jordan) can access the IQ Fiber network easily and simply through quick, free registration on their connected devices. Users can connect mobile and wearable devices for sport and fitness, or simply use the park as an alternate connected location for education or work. IQ Fiber’s three-park Wi-Fi network is the only one of its kind in North Florida to provide free, outdoor, high-speed internet in park settings.

“We are thrilled to deliver on our promise to Atlantic Beach and its citizens and visitors,” said Ted Schremp, CEO of IQ Fiber. “Park Wi-Fi is still rare in our market and beyond, and this project makes our high-speed network available to all.”

IQ Fiber donated the design, engineering, construction and operation of the outdoor network at the parks.

Kevin Hogencamp, the City of Atlantic Beach’s deputy city manager, said free WiFi in public parks has tremendous community benefits, including increasing access to information and resources, improving safety, and enhancing quality of life.

“The City is grateful for IQ Fiber’s generous gift to the community, which makes it easier for people to stay connected outdoors and undoubtedly will increase park usage,” Hogencamp said.

In addition to this significant donation, IQ Fiber invested more than $12.5 million in its Atlantic Beach network, which began serving customers in December 2022. IQ Fiber is currently serving customers in Duval and Clay counties and has additional deployment projects underway in St. Johns and Nassau counties.

The Wi-Fi service is powered by IQ Fiber’s 100% fiber-optic network, which is capable of symmetrical speeds of up to 10 gigabits-per-second and is far superior to telephone or cable-based internet.

IQ Fiber, headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., is bringing high-speed, state-of-the-art 100% fiber-optic internet to areas of Northeast Florida that do not currently have access to modern, symmetrical broadband services. The first phase of the network will deliver fiber-optic internet to 60,000 homes across Northeast Florida. IQ Fiber is privately funded and launched in August 2021.

IQ Fiber is Northeast Florida's only local fiber-optic internet service provider. Headquartered in Jacksonville, IQ Fiber is transforming the residential broadband market by offering a 100% fiber-optic network with a stress-free guarantee: no contracts, hidden fees, or data caps. Its network is supported by live, local customer service. IQ Fiber is focused on rapidly expanding its residential fiber network across Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns Counties.
