Animal Control
The Atlantic Beach Animal Control Division is comprised of two (2) full time Animal Control Officers who have been trained and certified to solve problems and enforce laws relative to various animals in the community. They perform a variety of functions including patrolling the beach, enforcing laws, capturing domestic animals running at-large, providing advice and guidance to citizens, investigating animal bites, coordinating with Rabies Control, and on a limited basis, adopting abandoned animals to citizens.
The City operates a small animal control facility located at the Atlantic Beach Public Works yard on Sandpiper Lane in Atlantic Beach. This facility is for short term holding of captured domestic animals. If the animal owner cannot be contacted within a reasonable time, then captured animals are transferred to Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services for long-term disposition.
